Here you will find tips and clear explanations about everything that is involved when you rent a rib. Nice to go through this before your rib and you also enjoy it on the water.
Ribs for beginners
You have more sailing pleasure with knowledge and experience
A motor yacht behaves differently than a car. For ribs for rent in malta therefore also requires getting used to. Each type of motor rib has its own sailing behaviour. The size, hull shape, propeller effect (wheel effect) play an important role in this. A rib with, for example, a bow thrusters is easier to makeover than a rib that does not have one. You also need to know how to deal with wind, waves and currents. You must of course be able to control the motor yacht everywhere. Knowledge of the sailing rules is therefore necessary. Don’t just go out on the water without some experience.
Be careful
Because of the stay in the beautiful nature and the relative peace that you experience when you go sailing on the Frisian lakes, people are often less alert when they are on and near the water than when they participate in traffic as a motorist or cyclist, etc. It simply requires more discipline.
- Make sure the motor rib is (technically) in order before you go on the water. Check that the tanks and batteries are full and check the cooling water and engine oil level. If you are going to rent a rib from us, we have of course already done that for you.
- Make sure you are well prepared for the water. For example, check the weather forecast. Know where you are going to sail, take sailing routes and water maps with you. Check any obstructions.
Proper Navigation
Navigate as much as possible to the right (starboard side) of the fairway. Do not suddenly change course. Show other skippers clearly what you are planning. Stay out of the blind spot of cargo ships. They have a blind spot ahead of the bow, sometimes up to 350 meters.
Choosing the Best Speed
Choose your course and speed so that you stay out of that blind spot. If you can see the skipper in his wheelhouse, he can see you too.
So immerse yourself in the sailing rules and act accordingly. Pay close attention and keep a lookout. Make sure you are seen yourself. If you are going for a rib with the children, have them wear a life jacket on board.
